Timing Note
Two doses of MMR are required for full protection. For travel, infants aged 6–11 months can receive an early extra dose, followed by the routine two doses from 12 months of age.
Effectiveness Note
The MMR vaccine has a 97% efficiency rate against measles and 88% against mumps. The vaccine is highly effective against the Rubella infection. There has been a decline of over 95% in the instances of measles in areas with widespread vaccine coverage. Immunity builds within a few weeks after the vaccine.
Duration Note
The first dose at the age of 12-15 months old and the second at 4, 6 years. Similarly, the inoculation is suggested to those adults who lack a vaccination history.

The MMR vaccine equips the immune system with the ability to identify the viruses that cause measles, mumps, and rubella. Such immune memory aids the body in giving a swift response in case of contact with the pathogens. Vaccination definitely limits how the virus spreads in the community. Besides that, it creates immunity safety for kids and weak people, that is, through herd immunity.
