Am I a good boy? The reason I ask is because someone told me that people say this to all dogs, even if they aren't good...

Timing Note
Whooping cough is included in the routine UK childhood schedule (as 6-in-1 and 4-in-1 boosters) and is offered to pregnant women from 16 weeks to protect newborns.
Effectiveness Note
The studies show that pertussis vaccines are about 80%-90% effective for preventing severe disease in children. Protection is strongest right after a vaccination, but it gradually decreases over time. In the case where a vaccinated individual becomes infected, they are usually characterized by mild symptoms. Boosters are effective in bringing back the protection level to normal.
Duration Note
children get 5 Vaccination shots which are given by the age of 6 and hence it is administered as a component of the DTaP vaccine during childhood and Tdap for adolescents and adults.
